Moving Day

STEP 1: The Community Move-in Process

Your community will coordinate with you your scheduled date of move-in. Once finalized, it’s important to pass along this information to your families and your moving team. Upon arrival, you will most likely be greeted by a staff member who will lead you to your apartment and show you around. The staff will also hand you your apartment keys and any wearable technology you will need.

STEP 2: Unpacking

Once all your boxes are unloaded to your room, you may start unpacking your stuff. You may choose not to unpack everything at once. For starters, you will need your essential items like clothing, bedding, and toiletries. To add a personal touch on your first day, you may also start putting up family pictures or any artwork that will make your new place feel like home. Depending on your preference and the community’s policies, you may choose to move your things days before your move-in day. This makes it less stressful on the day you are welcomed to the community.

STEP 3: Welcome Introductions and Resident Orientation

Residents and staff in a community usually welcome the new residents on their first day. One staff will likely be assigned to you or your loved one to help them walk through the daily routine and assist them through the transition phase.
